40GB PS3 will have less ventilation and no “Super Audio CD” support

It’s a good thing that Famitsu took the initiative and compared a 40GB PlayStation 3 unit and a 60GB SKU side-by-side, because not only did the 40 Gig model have just 2 USB ports and no BC, but they discovered that it also has less cooling vents compared to the other 3 versions, and no support for Super Audio CD.

40GB PS3 Bound for America, 80GB gets $100 Price Drop

Jack Tretton, President of Sony Computer Entertainment has now confirmed that the new 40GB PlayStation 3 will make it’s way to the U.S., releasing on Novemeber 2nd, for a retail price of $400.

If that wasn’t good enough, Tretton also confirmed that the 80GB version will be getting a $100 price cut, dropping it from $600 to $500.

No word on whether America will be getting the Ceramic White version.
